Each year, SMCHS invests in the potential of our students to become well-rounded, successful people. To this end, we offer multiple opportunities to travel abroad, we expose our students to learning tracks which prepare them for the next level. As most people know, we receive no significant monies from federal or state sources and have to balance our budget each year through tuition, parish assistance and fundraising. In order to enhance our curriculum and programing, as well as keep our tuition affordable (tuition costs cover 2/3 of what it costs to educate a student) we have several yearly initiatives.

The Alumni Association Scholarship Fund
This fund was begun by some forward thinking alumni of SMCHS who wanted to provide funds in perpetuity for students who want to attend SMCHS but may not be able to afford the entire financial sacrifice represented by tuition payments. The fund accepts donations year round to its many named scholarships or to the general purpose of tuition assistance. In conjunction with annual giving, the fund is also bolstered through donations to the annual Alumni Association Phon-a-thon described below. The Alumni Association Scholarship fund accounts for $55,000 + each year for tuition assistance scholarship.
The Phon-a-thon
This annual outreach to SMCHS alumni raises funds through outreach of current students to alumni of SMCHS. High school age students reach out to past graduates of SMCHS and ask them to make a pledge to support current students attending SMCHS through tuition assistance scholarships. This takes place over the phone in early October.
The SMCHS Circle of Saints
This group of dedicated benefactors help to support SMCHS curriculum and programming. Their gifts make it possible for St. Mary's students to experience enrichment through events like guest speakers and additions to in-class curriculum through out the year.
SMCHS Corporate Sponsorship
Our corporate partners in the Bismarck-Mandan area provide an excellent source of support while offering some great advertising for exposure in the community. People love to support the businesses that support SMCHS! Click on the "Corporate Sponsors" tab to the right to learn more about corporate sponsorship program. **Right now take advantage of the new ND tax credit which allows S-corps and partnerships (LLP's, LLC's etc.) to donate money to private elementary and high schools and receive an extremely generous tax credit. The Light of Christ Annual Appeal
Tuition Assistance is not just necessary at SMCHS, it is also an important part of providing Catholic education to our elementary and middle school academy student families as well. At SMCHS we must raise $150,000 annually for tuition assistance. System wide we must raise just under $500,000 a year for tuition assistance. The Light of Christ Annual Appeal takes place between November and the end of the calendar year but donations are accepted any time of year.
