The John D. Weis Memorial Scholarship is established to honor and remember John by promoting post-secondary education opportunities for students having lost (deceased) a parent or legal guardian.

Hagen Scholarship Foundation
The Hagen Scholarship is a needs-based merit scholarship for goal-driven students in the high school graduating class.  Apply here.  Deadline: December 1

 American Cancer Society Childhood Cancer Survivor College Scholarship Program

 American Indian College Fund/Hilton Family Diversity Scholarship

 Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship Program

 More than 160 scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each are awarded to children of full-time employees of Basin and its subsidiaries, and the children of member-cooperative employees and consumers. Deadline: February 15

  

The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation (BCCF) will award two $1000 scholarships to individuals who are interested in and committed to oncology nursing and who are pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing through a Bismarck college.  Bismarck Dollars for Scholars

 Scholarships of $500 will be given to successful applicants from the Bismarck area who plan to further their education. At least two of the scholarships will be awarded to seniors who plan to attend a vocational-technical school. Online at: www.bismarck.dollarsforscholars.org. Deadline: February 28

  

The Eagles Auxiliary provides a $500 scholarship to a student attending BSC or UMary. Financial need is given more importance than scholastic average. Deadline: April 15

Individual one-time scholarships of $1,000 are given to four local seniors who plan to enroll in an institution of higher learning in North Dakota. Criteria includes: scholastic record and ACT/SAT scores; future plans, school activity record and personal qualities that indicate potential success in college; good citizenship and service involvement; and financial need. Deadline: March 1

 

The Bismarck Larks will award scholarships to high school seniors or those attending college who are interested in pursuing a career in the sports, events and entertainment field.  Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.

 

Up to five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students wishing to pursue post-secondary education.  Any student with a qualifying disability is eligible to apply.  Deadline:  April 26

The Bismarck Rotary club awards six $2500 scholarships-one to a graduating senior from each local high school. Criteria includes: scholastic record, co-curricular and community involvement and leadership qualities. Apply at ndcf.net.  Deadline: March 15

This $1000 scholarship is available to new students at BSC in one of the following programs: Geographic Information Systems Tech; Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning; Mechanical Maintenance Technology; Medical Laboratory Sciences; Web Page Development & Design. The Bismarck Tribune, along with MDU Resources, will honor one high school senior each week.  At the end of the school year, a $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student.  All-around students who excel in the classroom, extra-curriculars, the workplace, and in the community are encouraged to apply. 

 

 

Scholarship grants range from $1,000 to $50,000, and are intended to help students offset the cost of attending college or post-secondary vocational/technical school. Cancer Unwrapped Teen Writing Contest invites all U.S. teens in grades 9-12 to submit an essay of 500-1,500 words about their experience with cancer for the opportunity to win one of several $1,000 prizes. AMVETS Americanism Project -- 9th - 12th grade students are eligible to participate in the essay contest.  as the department winner will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, PA. You can go to www.freedomsfoundation.org to find out more about this great opportunity that supports American Civics education.  The packet of information can be found on www.bismarckamvets.com. Feel free to print or make any additional copies as needed. Local winners (top three in each category) will be awarded a certificate and cash prizes. Capital Credit Union Howard Snortland Scholarship 

Capital Credit Union is offering eight $1,000 scholarships for seniors who are members of CCU and will be attending college in ND or Minnesota. The scholarship application is available at www.capcu.org in January of each year and specific details are included at that time. Deadline: February 15

 

This $500 scholarship is available to students who have completed a minimum of 50 hours of volunteering in the CHI St. Alexius Gift Shop.  Application requires a brief essay (250 words) and two letters of reference. Deadline: March 15

 

150 well-rounded seniors who are active in their school and community and balance extra-curricular activities with strong academic performances will be named "Coca-Cola Scholars" and awarded $20,000 scholarships. One hundred awards of $1,500 will be presented to seniors whose families are engaged in production agriculture and plan to pursue a career in agriculture. Minimum ACT composite score of 18 required. Download applications at www.monsanto.com, or www.nafb.com. Deadline: February 15

North Dakota high school seniors who demonstrate community and/or school involvement and plan to continue their education by enrolling full-time (12 credits or more) in the fall are encouraged to apply.  Eleven recipients will be chosen to receive this $500 award.  Available on the bank's website.  Deadline: March 1

 

This scholarship provides $1,000 to an undergraduate student attending a post-secondary educational institution (university, college, technical school, etc.) in the states of South Dakota and North Dakota (one award for each state). Qualified applicants must be pursuing an education in a field related to the Mission of Dakota Lions Sight & Health (Helping to Enable the Restoration of the Gifts of Sight & Health) - this may include health professions, science and research, social services, philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, etc.  The website and applications are located at dakotasight.org/scholarship. Dushinske & Jamison Water Resources Scholarship 

Four $1,500 scholarships for students  planning to attend a ND college or university. EIF is a national foundation that provides scholarships ranging from $500-$5,000 to ‘B' average students whose families cannot afford tuition and whose grades do not qualify them for traditional scholarships. Essentia Health West Market will award a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating SMCHS senior, continuing education in a healthcare related field (whose major interest is in the field of science and/or medicine). Awards shall be based upon good character, scholastic achievement and promise, citizenship, personality, and seriousness of purpose.  Applicants must have a cumulative GPA  of 3.0 or higher.  Applicants who are a family member of an Essentia Health officer that is director or above (titles include but are not limited to Pres, CEO, COO, CNO, SVP, VP, Sr Director, Director), or Trustee are not eligible to receive an EH scholarship. Deadline: April 1

 

Ten scholarships worth $1000 each will be awarded to seniors who plan to enroll in college this fall. The recipient must be from an actively farming or ranching family OR planning to pursue an agricultural career. The Gates Scholarship (TGS) is a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.  Deadline: September 15

 

 Adam Klein Chapter #3, Disabled American Veterans offers this scholarship worth up to $1,000 for veterans of the US Armed Forces, spouses and children of veterans. Deadline: March 15

  

This national program awards college scholarships to high school seniors who embody the characteristics of President Ronald Reagan at school, in the community, in the workplace, and at home. They're looking for students with leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship. Recipients receive $10,000 renewable scholarships - up to $40,000 per student. The Hagan Scholarship is a nationwide need-based scholarship, providing recipients with the opportunity to graduate debt-free. Winning a Heisman High School Scholarship presented by Acceptance Insurance requires a weighted GPA of 3.0 or better, participation in at least one sport, and demonstrated leadership at school and in the community. The Jackie Robinson Foundation provides four-year scholarships of up to $35,000 and extensive support services, including career guidance and internship placement, to highly motivated African American students.  Go to www.jackierobinson.org to learn more and apply.  Deadline: January 10

 

The Lignite Energy Council established this scholarship to assist a graduating senior from Bismarck planning to pursue a science-related career. Minnesota-Dakotas District Kiwanis Educational Foundation Scholarship Grant
SMCHS can nominate three seniors for a one-time scholarship of $950 to be used in higher education institutions located in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Superior, WS. Awards are based on scholastic ability, need & seriousness of purpose. Deadline: January 10

 

High school graduates from Burleigh County (as well as Billings, Golden Valley, Morton, and Stark) attending Minot State University are eligible for the Prairie Rose Scholarship. Must have 2.75 unweighted GPA or higher on final high school transcript. Deadline: March 31

 

The Hubert Seymour Scholarship offers a $2,000 award for a senior continuing his/her education for any area of study. A one-page essay is required. Deadline: April 1. The Stanley Moore Scholarship awards several $1,000 scholarships to Farmers Union members. Deadline: April 1. Minimum of 100 scholarships ranging in value from $1,000-$10,000 to recognize young people who have demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit/initiative. Current seniors who are active NHS members in good standing are encouraged to apply. One national winner will receive $25,000 24 national finalists receive $5,625 and 575 national semi-finalists receive $3,200. High school seniors who have MS or a parent with MS are eligible for scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. The Upper Midwest Chapter granted 90 scholarships last year to help college-bound students touched by MS. Available online at www.nationalmssociety.org. Deadline: January 15

 

The AiC High School Award honors 9^th-12^th grade high school students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions. Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, persistence, and future plans. Since 2007, more than 25,000 students have received an AiC Award.

The Emma Skogen Scholarship is a $1,000 award to one student who is visually impaired and in need of financial assistance that plans to attend a vocational or trade school. The North Dakota Association of Counties (NDACo), through their affiliate, the Institute of Local Government (ILG) will be awarding several $2,000 scholarships. To qualify, students must have a parent or grandparent currently employed by a county, including elected and appointed officials as well as other full-time county employees. The student must plan to attend an accredited North Dakota college or technical school. North Dakota Crop Improvement & Seed Association Scholarship

The North Dakota Crop Improvement & Seed Association provides three (3) scholarships to seniors who plan to continue post-secondary education in North Dakota. Applicant and/or guardian shall be a member of the State ND Crop Improvement & Seed Association and be a full-time student (12 credits or more). The amount of each scholarship is $1000. North Dakota Farm Bureau Future of Ag Scholarship
This $500 scholarship will recognize academic achievements as well as leadership skills of high school seniors enrolled in any agricultural college. Application available at www.ndfb.org/edusafe. Deadline: April 15

North Dakota Grocers Association Richard Bronson Scholarship

These $1,000 scholarships are available to any graduating student who works for a NDGA Member Store or Associate Member business. A graduating student, whose parent(s) work for a NDGA Member Store or an Associate Member business is eligible as well. Deadline: March 18

The ND Jaycee Senate awards four scholarships worth $300 each. The scholarships are dedicated to the memory of Lisa Burdolski, a child of a Jaycee who died as a result of a car accident. Two primary award winners and one alternate winner will be selected. Primary winners are then eligible to compete nationally for $1,000 scholarships from the US JCI Senate Foundation. The NDSWRA is an organization that works to educate, train and promote environmentally sound waste management practices. Up to two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to applicants who must be NDSWRA member or immediate family of a member.
